Publisher's Column
At Sextant Publishing, as at our parent company Cambridge Strategies Inc., we seek to add to the public dialogue on important issues. We want to challenge thinking, foster conversation, and add to the broader base of public knowledge and discussion.
And I think our published catalogue to date does exactly that.
In Dr. Allan Bonner, we have an expert in the field of crisis and risk management. His lessons are essential learning for everyone who works in the private or public sphere – negotiation and dispute resolution, public and media relations, business planning and sustainability – all areas that every successful organization must think about and prepare for if they expect to survive in today’s climate.
In Satya Das, we see one prominent Canadian’s thoughts on the future of our country – how Canada can contribute to the world, and how the rest of the world contributes to Canada. Satya’s books are an invitation to examine the role Canada plays on the global stage, and the growing connectivity between human capital and monetary gain.
And with Kirsten Sikora, we have a touching, sometimes harsh and always intriguing look into the growing pains of a talented young woman, a gifted artist, and an extraordinary human being. Kirsten’s experiences, while unique in specifics, remind us that we all grow up, and that it’s never an easy process.
On the surface, none of these publications seems to have much to do with each other: Business activity and best practices; international relations; and coming of age in our current society. But each is a distinctive commentary on the times we live, work and communicate in. Sextant is committed to adding to the public discussion in the social, business, and cultural realms. We look forward to continuing to grow our catalogue and to providing you with commentary and insight in each of these areas.
